Network Configuration

In order to communicate with a device, your IRControl system needs its IP address. In most cases, the IP is assigned dynamically (DHCP) and can thus change for a specific device. But what is always fixed, is the Mac address of the device. Normally, configure your devices with the Mac address. If the IP address of your device is assigned statically (it always stays the same), you can configure the device based on the IP address. IF the device can basically be viewed and addressed in the network is indicated in the program section «System Info» and «Devices».

With version 10 of Android and later and on iOS devices, the matching of MAC address and IP cannot be made in every case. The corresponding service (ARP) cannot be used for security reasons. This means that for some of the supported devices, the detection does not have to be made via the MAC address but via a manufacturer-specific unique ID (UID).

Detecte devicecs automatically

For most Device types, the IRControl system can detect the deivce on the network. However, this requires that on your network router «Broadcasting» and possibly the «Bonjour service» is turned on.
