Layout editor

In the Layout Editor, the pages are designed graphically, which makes up the design of your IRControl remote control. It is started in the setup part of IRControl in the page overview.

Select a page first, then a fragment of the page and start the layout editor with the button . You can find out more about page fragments in the chapter Layout Pages.

Designelement Menu

The layout editor contains the two menus in the upper part. The icon with the paint pot opens the selection of the design elements (controls). By swiping up and down the menu can be scrolled. By swiping on a design element to the right, the design element is pulled onto the layout area and can be positioned there. The gear icon (within the design element menu) allows you to create your own control templates which you can then reuse. You will find out more about this in the chapter Control Templates.

System Menu

The System Menu is called up via the gear icon in the upper right screen area. It contains the following elements:

Snap to Grid / Gridsize

The «Snap to Grid» function places an (invisible) grid over the layout editor. Design elements can then only be moved to these grid positions (using drag & drop). With the parameter Grid Size you can specify the distances for the grid (in pixels). Our experience shows that this makes it much easier to position the design elements.

Fragment Settings

The fragment settings can be used to set the background color of the fragment as well as to configure actions and events that relate to the fragment. Find out more about this in the chapters Actions and Events. The main fragment can also be used to configure elements of the layout page, such as menu buttons, status bar and navigation bar.

Predefined Layouts

With this function, you can select a ready-to-use page layout and configure it for your page. So if you have less the artist gene, you can easily generate your page design. Maybe it’s not so bad at first to look at such a design to see how a layout can be built.

Control List

The Control List gives you a list of all design elements on the fragment. This can be helpful if you position several controls one above the other at the same position. In this view, it is also possible to change the build order of the controls during screen layout. This is also helpful if you have a «zombie» under the controls. Zombies are controls that are no longer visible, either because they are completely transparent or completely in the background color, or because they are outside of the layout area.

At the bottom of the menu, you have the two buttons to exit the layout editor, either by saving (Save) or discarding the changes (Cancel).

Layout area

In the layout area, all design elements are positioned. A short tap opens the configuration view of a control. There you can configure all attributes of the control. You will find out more about this in the chapter Control and the following chapters about controls.

By pressing (and holding shorty), the design element releases itself from its position and it can be moved to another location in the fragment (drag & drop).
