Devices & Targets

On this screen, the devices are registered, which are controlled via IRControl. we differentiate

Devices

A device is addressed directly by IRControl, either to control it itself (for example, an audio amplifier that has a network interface), or an infrared transmitter used to control consumer electronics.

There are devices to which targets can be registered (eg infrared emitters) and those that have no targets (eg Google Chromecast).

Regardless of whether a device requires targets, commandsmust be registered to control (either on the device or, if available, on the target).

To register a device press the symbol. The network is scanned for potential devices. For this, the network (or the router) needs to have Broadcasting and Multicast DNS (or Bonjour Service) turned on. If the device can not be detected on the network, it may have to be registered by the «Add manually» function.

By selecting the listed device, it can be added.

Now you can enter the device parameters. They differ depending on the device type. Normally, the parameters do not have to be adapted and can be taken over by pressing . You can find more about this in the corresponding chapters for the devices or in the chapter Network configuration.

The following device types / gateways can be configured in IRControl:

Targets

Targets are always linked to a device. Typically, these are the target devices (e.g. CD players) that are controlled via an infrared transmitter (e.g. Global Caché iTach Flex). If a device offers to have different target definitions, a target with corresponding commands must be registered to control the target device.

Navigation

Various functions are available on the listed devices and targets, which can be called up via a menu.

On Android devices, the menu is called up by tapping the 3 dots on the right edge of the screen:

On iOS devices, the menu appears by pressing the element at the top of the list for a longer time:
